What we are agreeing to.

This is the agreement between you and Perrie when you join as a founding member. It is written to be read, not to be survived. There is no denser version of it somewhere else.

Who this is between

You, and Perrie Research of [Perrie: registered address], which trades as Perrie. This agreement starts when you complete the sign up and we confirm you as a founding member, and it runs until either of us ends it.

How we handle your information is a separate document, the Privacy Policy, and it is part of this agreement.

Who can join

By signing up you confirm that you are 18 or older, that you live in the United States, and that the details you give us are your own and true. The founding cohort is for women 18 or older, living in the United States, who can take part for six months with a monthly check-in. The sign up asks those things first, and if the answer is no it says so straight away rather than asking you for the rest. Beyond that, we are looking for women in the middle of a life transition, and we read every sign up rather than filtering by a rule. Being outside that description does not stop you signing up. It may mean we cannot invite you this time, and if so we will say so rather than leave you waiting.

What we are asking of you

We may occasionally invite you to something longer or more focused. Those are always optional, always described before you decide, and declining changes nothing about your membership.

You will always be told when you are talking to AI, and a person on the Perrie team is always reachable. If you would rather talk something through with a person, ask.

What you can always do

Skip any question, in the sign up or in a conversation, without explaining why. Pause for as long as you need. Stop altogether, at any point, with no notice and no penalty. The six months is what we hope for, not something you owe us.

None of these affect money you have already earned. If you have taken part in a conversation, you are paid for it, including if you leave the next day.

Pausing means we stop sending you conversation links and reminders until you tell us you are back. Just email us. Your membership and everything you have told us stay exactly as they are, and you pick up with the next conversation, not by catching up on the ones you missed. You are not paid for months you sit out. While paused you will still hear from us if this agreement or the Privacy Policy changes, and when there are findings to share. A pause can last as long as you need, but if two years pass without a conversation we treat it as leaving, as the Privacy Policy describes.

If a conversation touches something hard

The founding cohort is about life transitions: pregnancy, postpartum, caregiving, menopause, a change of work. These are not small subjects, and a conversation may go somewhere you did not expect. You can stop, skip, or come back another day, and nothing you say is marked or judged.

We are a research panel, not a health service or a crisis line. If a conversation suggests you are in danger or need help we cannot give, we will say so and point you to people who can. We will not pretend to be something we are not.

What we pay you

The founding circle is $80 across the six months, paid as you go rather than in a lump at the end:

Payment arrives by Venmo or PayPal, whichever you prefer, within 7 days of the conversation. You will always know what something asks of you and what it pays before you agree to it. If we ever cannot say what something pays, we will not ask you to do it.

If a conversation does not happen

Conversations are AI-guided and you take them whenever suits you, so there is no appointment to keep. If a conversation is not there when it should be, or a problem on our side stops you finishing one, we pay you for it anyway. If a month goes by and you have not got to it, tell us whenever you realise and we will hold it open for you, with nothing owed either way.

Tax

What we pay you is income, and it is yours to declare. At the founding circle amount we are not required to collect a taxpayer ID or report the payments, which is why we do not ask you for one. US rules start requiring that at $600 paid to one person in a calendar year, and the founding circle is nowhere near it.

If that ever changes, because you stay with us across cohorts or take on additional paid conversations, we will explain what we need and why before asking for anything. We will not spring it on you, and those records would be kept apart from your answers, as the Privacy Policy describes.

You are not an employee

Taking part does not make you an employee of Perrie, and this is not a job. You choose whether to take part in any given conversation, when you do it, and what you say. You are responsible for your own taxes on what we pay you. Nothing here stops you working anywhere, for anyone, including on research of your own.

Using what you tell us

Your words and your experiences remain yours. You are not signing them over, and this agreement does not transfer ownership of anything.

What you are giving us is permission. Specifically, permission to:

That permission is not time-limited, for one honest reason: we cannot un-publish a report. Findings already out in the world stay out in the world, and the analysis behind them has to remain valid. What we can do, and will, is stop using your answers for anything new, and delete them, as described in the Privacy Policy.

What this permission does not include: quoting your exact words, attaching your name or identity to anything published, or enrolling you in research paid for by someone else. Each of those needs us to come back and ask you specifically, every time, and no is a complete answer.

The other side of it: the findings, reports and methods we build from the whole panel are ours. That is what organisations pay us for, and it is how the panel keeps going. Nothing in them is yours to be sold, and nothing in them will identify you.

What you see first, and keeping it here

Founding members read what we are learning before anyone else. That is one of the reasons to join, and it only works if it stays inside the circle until we publish.

So: please keep unpublished findings to yourself. Talk about being part of Perrie as much as you like, that is your story to tell. Once something is published it is public and you can share it freely.

What we ask of each other

Tell us the truth as you see it. There are no right answers and nothing you say will be marked. The one thing that would break this is inventing experiences, because everything we publish rests on the assumption that what members tell us is real.

From us: we will be clear about what we are asking and why, tell you when you are talking to AI, pay you on time, and never pretend a decision has been made by the panel when it has not.

How we will contact you

By email, at the address you gave us: to send you the link to each conversation, to confirm what you have agreed to, to share findings before they are public, and to tell you if this agreement or the Privacy Policy changes. We do not send marketing. If you gave a phone number, we use it only if email is not reaching you about a conversation that is waiting for you.

Ending it

You can leave at any time, by telling us, or by asking us to delete your information, which does both at once. You do not need a reason.

We may end your membership if the founding cohort closes or the panel winds down, or in the rare case where someone is not taking part in good faith. If we do, we will tell you why, pay you anything outstanding, and handle your information exactly as the Privacy Policy says.

After the founding six months, membership simply continues month to month, on these same terms, until either of us ends it. If we want to change the terms for a second phase we will ask you to agree to them, not assume.

What we cannot promise

What each of us is responsible for

We are responsible for keeping the promises on this page and in the Privacy Policy, and for paying you what we said we would. You are responsible for the truth of what you tell us, for your own taxes on what we pay you, and for keeping unpublished findings to yourself.

Neither of us is responsible to the other for things outside our control, or for losses that neither of us could reasonably have seen coming. Nothing here limits what either of us is responsible for under a law that does not allow it to be limited.

If Perrie changes hands

If the panel is ever sold, merged into another company, or handed to someone else to run, this agreement goes with it on the same terms, and so do the promises in the Privacy Policy. We will tell you before it happens, and you can leave first if you would rather not come along. You cannot hand your side of this agreement to someone else, because it is about your own experience.

If something goes wrong between us

Email hello@perrieresearch.com and tell us. Most things are a misunderstanding and we would rather fix it than formalise it.

If it cannot be resolved that way, this agreement is governed by the law of California. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the law of the state you live in, and if a part of this agreement turns out not to be enforceable, the rest of it still stands.

If this agreement changes

We will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change affects what you agreed to, particularly what we pay or what we may do with what you tell us, we will tell you directly and ask you to agree again. We will not treat silence as a yes. We keep a record of which version you agreed to.

The whole agreement

This page, the Privacy Policy, and the consents you tick at sign up are the whole agreement between us. Anything a specific conversation or study asks of you beyond this will be put to you separately, in writing, before you decide.
